Mt. Yotei over fresh-green early-summer Niseko

Colourful Seasons
in Niseko,
guided.

four ways into the mountains ~
The Idea

When the snow melts, the mountains open.
We walk you gently in.

OUTSCAPE is a small summer guiding company in Niseko. From easy marsh boardwalks to full summit days, every tour is led by a local guide who reads the landscape — in small groups, at an unhurried pace, with snacks and warm drinks carried for you.

Drawing fresh natural spring water from the mountain into a FAR EAST bottle
On every tour

Every tour begins
at a mountain spring.

The snow that falls in winter doesn't just disappear —
it sinks into the earth, and over the years rises again as spring water that feeds us and the green of summer.
Here in Niseko, water is a part of every season.

Before we walk, each tour stops to draw fresh natural spring water from the mountain. Bring your own bottle, or pick up a FAR EAST original bottle to keep.

Weather & what to wear, month by month

The lines trace each day’s high and overnight low across the season; below, the daylight and a clothing cue by month. Summits run 5–10°C colder — we carry a spare warm layer for you.

Dress for the valley, pack for the summit. The bars show how daylight shortens toward autumn — your guide sets the best start & finish times around your day.

Light — quick-dry tee + shorts
Layer — add light trousers + a fleece
Warm — long sleeve, trousers + insulated layer

Always pack: a light rain shell & trail shoes — hiking boots for Full-Day hikes (gear & boots at StrideLab).

Approximate monthly averages & sunrise/sunset, JST (目安). Mountain weather changes fast — these are starting points, not rules; your guide reads the day and helps you adjust.

How It Works

simple, by design
Step 1

Choose your tour

Pick the activity and length that suits your group — stroll or hike, half or full day.

Step 2

Send a request

Request your date by 15:00 the day before. Your guide scouts the day's conditions and confirms by 18:00 — so every tour runs at its best.

Step 3

Meet your guide

We bring the snacks, gear and local knowledge. You just bring yourself.

Good to Know

the practical bits
Do I need experience or special fitness? +

Not for the Nature Stroll tours — they suit families, seniors and complete beginners. The Hiking tours ask for a little more: Half Day is moderate, Full Day is for confident walkers. Each tour page shows its difficulty clearly.

What's included? +

A local guide, a light meal, highland snacks and drinks (coffee or tea), and photos of your day — all carried and served by us. Full Day tours include a full lunch (choose your pack at booking); Half Day tours include a light meal. Gondola or ropeway fares on certain courses are paid locally.

How many people per tour? +

Tours are private to your group (up to 5 guests) and priced per group rather than per person. Ages 5+ are welcome — on some days small children may not be able to join, so please check with us first.

Where do we meet? Is there pickup? +

We come to you — hotel pickup is included anywhere in the Niseko area, and we bring you back afterwards. No trailhead to find on your own. The exact pickup time is confirmed with your guide.

What should I bring & wear? +

Comfortable shoes (light hiking shoes for the Hiking tours), layers and a light rain jacket, sunscreen, a hat and your camera. You can travel light — we bring a 500 ml water per guest, and a 20 L daypack to borrow if you don't have one (bring your own only if you prefer). On Full Day tours, your guide can even help you choose gear at a local shop first.

When do you operate? +

Through the green season — roughly June to October, depending on snow-melt and trail conditions. The landscape shifts from fresh early-summer green to golden autumn, so no two months look the same.

What if the weather is bad? +

Safety comes first — when in doubt, we cancel. If we cancel for weather, safety or minimum numbers, you get a full refund. We make the final call on the morning and contact you by 7:00 a.m.

What about cancellations? +

If you cancel: 7–4 days before, 30%; 3 days to the day before, 50%; within 48 hours, 100%. If we cancel for weather, safety or minimum numbers, you receive a full refund. See our Terms & Cancellation Policy for full details.
